Congratulations to Wm. Law X-Mormon of the year 2021: Jeff T. Green!!

chanson, January 16, 2022January 16, 2022

Tech billionaire and richest dude in Utah Jeff T. Green made a very public break with the CoJCoL-dS when he resigned from the church in 2021 — while donating $600,000 to Equality Utah.

In his resignation letter, he wrote that the Mormon Church “has strained and divided millions of families” through its stances on a range of social issues that have “hindered global progress in women’s rights, civil rights and racial equality, and LGBTQ+ rights.” [paraphase via Forbes — I can’t find a copy of the complete letter]

Very true, and well said!

Will this impact the church’s stance on a range of social issues? I would guess probably not since I imagine that hindering global progress in women’s rights, civil rights and racial equality, and LGBTQ+ rights is a selling point to many active members (Jeff himself had not been a practicing member for years).

But it absolutely helps when you shine a spotlight on the church’s actions as Jeff has done by X’ing himself in this public way! Congrats to you Jeff T. Green, X-Mormon of the year 2021!!

p.s. Don’t forget to vote for the Brodie Awards — the polls remain open until Sunday, January 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Switzerland time.
