Congratulations to William Law X-Mormon of the Year 2010: Monica Bielanko!!!

chanson, February 13, 2011October 1, 2011

Congratulations to this year’s winner, Monica Bielanko!! This past year, she’s been sharing her pregnancy tales on Babble, in addition to continuing her photography, activism, and journalism (who could forget this tale surrounding Dallin Oaks’ understanding of civil rights?). So, congrats on a great year, Monica!!! And I hope you and the guest of your choice will enjoy the Lord’s most sacred musical as our guests (and then return to tell us all about it)!

Second and third prizes ($50 and $25, respectively) go to two X-Mormons who have brought us some fantastic Internet resources!! Daniel Johnson for the inspiring I Am an Ex Mormon video series, and Micah McAllister for his fantastic work building up the Life After Mormonism community!! Congrats on a great year to you too!!!

Please email me chanson dot exmormon at gmail dot com for details on how to collect your prizes. Great work!!

Congratulations to 2013 X-Mormons of the Year: J. Seth Anderson and Michael Ferguson!!!

January 23, 2014

It’s an inspiring and exciting story! Couples in California right around Proposition 8 learned that if you don’t get married in the window of time when it’s legal, you might have a long wait before your next opportunity. Failure to block same-sex-marriages legally was apparently an error on the part…

Hey, Congrats to Ms. Bielanko! After a week of nerve-wracking neck-and-neck competition, what an amazing come-from-behind win!! 😉

By the way, I just noticed that the Friendly Atheist posted an announcement regarding one of the Brodie awards we handed out last month.

And as noted in our sidebar, the r/exmormon reddit crew have now achieved Stripling Warrior status.

Also added to the sidebar: An updated rebel transmission from our new exmo base on the ice planet Hoth. No wonder we completely love ourselves.

And make no mistake, we do love ourselves, and for good reason (January 2011 will be recorded in the annals of the DAMU* as the beginning of our insurgency’s emergence as a mass movement … and a not-to-be-missed chance to tweak the Bloggernacle’s nose):

    DAMU vs. Bloggernacle

So, let’s savor a brief moment of pride at how far we’ve come in our struggle, but let’s also do what we can to make sure rising global fascination with our rebel communiqus from OB* don’t divert critical attention away from other important stories, like the world-historical developments in Northern Africa.

Because the last thing our movement needs is for us to become so convinced of our own importance that we lose all perspective. Guffaw.
