The previous two editions were pretty lively (if not scandalous) so it’s nice to finally be able to relax and take it down a notch! Aah. Still, the BKP scandal has a few last gasps to report on. Through the official channels, the CoJCoL-dS released a better statement than the Deseret News Editorial, see MoHoHawaii for the analysis and Maureen for some interesting real-life discussion with TBMs about it! Dialogues Kristine Haglund gave a great radio interview about it (even if she claims she didn’t do as well as she’d have liked). The man behind the Temple Square demonstration, Eric Ethington, was named CNN’s Fridays Intriguing Person and still wants some follow-through on the “common ground” that the CoJCoL-dS promised. More folks weigh in against bullying (regardless of whom it’s directed at), whereas Tea-Party Jesus applauds the book Chased by an [angry, scary, gay] Elephant. (Actually, even funnier was when a Confederate activist wrote Tea-Party Jesus a beat poem.) And OK Cupid released some fascinating data about the gay and the straight. Kuri argues that reproduction should not be a huge obstacle for omnipotent (gay) Gods (which you can read if you’re not in China). And — speaking of love! — it turns out that Pixelfish ran off to Vegas to get hitched, see the pics!
In Mormon-interest life stories, a young girl receives the gift of prophecy! Some others are planning their exit strategy. The Exmormon Foundation conference is being broadcast live! Sadly, I doubt they have anyone who can compete with BKP for ruffling feathers, but you may recognize one of the faces in the atheist version of the “And I’m Mormon” ads. And the Exmormon iPhone app gets some pretty funny reactions!
There were some great discussions when the Reddit exmos asked what was your first disappointment and Ms. Jack asked what does it mean to “preside”? In other religions, Fox News is totally cool with church being the most segregated hour in America (despite America’s plethora of Gods), Of course the Mormons embrace diversity (in a sense), At least the Mormon Fundamentalists are more diverse than you thought. Meanwhile, the European courts uphold the Mormons’ right to discriminate, and Glen Beck may-or-may-not fulfill the White Horse prophecy!
Now, for a politics, the right and the left. First, Alan V. reminds us of a bit of historical context for the mid-term elections. Sam MB shares some empathy for the homeless, while the Tea Party applauds the private Fire Department that watched a non-subscriber’s house burn down. (Apparently, the US Empire is collapsing.) And (to the chagrin of the church) making alcohol less of a hassle decreases DUI.
Now, I’d like to wrap-up by rounding up some random topics. Basically because I hate to keep ignoring all of those folks who were original enough to post about something nobody else posted about. đ Like, for example, foreplay, hot drinks, coming out to yourself, More discussion of The Book of Mammon, mining. No God or Mama God? Are sleeves a good way to judge character? And lastly, can federal employees get insurance for their pets or their partners? Guess.
