Collecting Nominations for X-Mormon of the Year 2024!!!

chanson, December 1, 2024

It’s that time of year again!! Time to decide which X-Mormon made the biggest splash in 2024!!!

Just like every year, I’ll remind you that you don’t have to have gotten excommunicated during the year in question — but it doesn’t hurt your chances! So I’m guessing that this year it will be Nemo the Mormon.

But let’s give him some competition!! I’ll bet plenty of other X-Mormons did something big in 2024, and you can nominate them in the comments below.

Please remember, this award is not a lifetime achievement award — it’s for making a big splash in the year in question. It’s also geared towards real-life actions or activism, not for content creation (unless the content creation made the news cycle in a non-trivial way). So if you want to nominate your favorite artist/youtuber/podcaster/etc., please save those nominations for the Brodie Awards — which will be opening nominations next week!!

Thanks in advance for your participation!!

Congratulations 2024 X-Mormon of the Year: Nemo the Mormon!!!

January 3, 2025January 5, 2025

It was a tight race this year!! …just kidding, of course — Douglas Stilgoe (a.k.a. Nemo the Mormon) won by a landslide. In addition to making entertaining content on his YouTube channel, Douglas has been a tireless advocate for positive change within the CoJCoL-dS. He even flew to Fairview, Texas…

Not sure they’re a match for Nemo, but both Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East are former Mormons who did a first rate job playing sister missionaries in Heretic. Can they be nominated jointly? Seems sort of unfair to list them individually since they’d probably cancel each other out–kinda like when Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon were up for the Oscar for Thelma and Louise, 😉

I would like to nominate Nemo. His presentations are always logical, balanced and well presented. I think his work towards safeguarding in the U.K. could merit the award alone but when you add in his travels supporting THRIVE and his assistance with the temple application in America, both his visit, his extra video presentation for the board and the mountain of paperwork he gave them. On top of all this he has been excommunicated but (in his typical tenacious style) he is even appealing that! His tapir show was brilliant and took a lot of work to pull off.

William Stilgoe? are you joking me? Any relation to Douglas Stilgoe, aka Nemo The Mormon?

I nominate Cardon Ellis. Whenever he describes the church that he believes in, it is clearly not the CoJCoLdS. He changed the name of his podcast to get rid of the dreaded M-word. He also drives more people out of the church than anyone else I can name. Cardon Ellis would be a fine Exmo of the Year.
