This close to paradise (conclusion of Polygamist)

chanson, June 16, 2008

“Thank you so much.”

“No problem,” he said. “Now just lay low, and I’ll see you tonight.” Then he went back to the house.

As soon as he was gone, I knew immediately where I wanted to go. Riding on the local bus the other day, I had noticed a large brick building marked “Orem Public Library.” Read the rest of the story ร‚ยป

A Review of September Dawn

June 17, 2007October 20, 2010

I saw an advance screening of the much anticipated September Dawn on Wednesday night. I’ve spent the week at the Kirtland Temple and the local theater invited all the staff here to a free screening. (I wonder if they issued a similar invitation to the LDS Mormons down on the…

So is Warren Jeffs still the (FLDS) prophet or what?

December 15, 2007October 20, 2010

To help answer this question, a Deseret Morning News article asks (my brother) John Hamer for his analysis. John is a historian specializing in the various scisms within the restoration movement and is the co-editor of Scattering of the Saints: Schism within Mormonism. In addition to clarifying this issue, John…

Sunday in Outer Blogness: Happy 2012 Edition!

January 1, 2012

Warren Jeffs has decided to start off the new year for his followers on an interesting note. And, by interesting, I mean that — if you doubted that the FLDS are a danger to themselves and others — Jeffs has decided to remove all doubt. At first, it looked like…

Hey, that is great writing (I’ve finally bookmarked it). I’ve read a bit of Jane Goodall and seen her documentaries, and been fascinated with her lifelong dedication in this field. She’s an extraordinary human being. But don’t forget, the “natural man” in us is “only” some 99.4% (the genetic origins we share with chimps). Maybe if they could “gain” that 0.6%, they’d invent religion and start killing one another for a “higher purpose”. In the next life, I want to be a chimpanzee, and specifically the Bonobo species. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Thanks Belaja!!!

    LOL, worry not!!!

Actually, this segment (even though it’s part 5) was the very last segment that I wrote. I wrote it to establish the back-story for Joe, who’s a main character in Temple Wedding and Orem High, and also to introduce Spencer, who’s the star of Bordeaux Mission. ๐Ÿ˜€
