Here are the polls! You have two weeks to vote!!
(Note: Some nominations are for multi-part series. Due to the character limit in the poll entries, I generally couldn’t provide multiple links, even using tinyurl, so I did my best to indicate that the nomination is for multiple posts and provide a link that will lead you to all the parts of the nominated work.)
Year-long awards for people and websites:
Awards for Individual Works:
Note: I reorganized some of the categories, and moved some of the nominations that could fit into more than one possible category. I did this for one of three possible reasons in each case:
- To avoid having two works by the same author competing with each other in the same category.
- The post seemed to fit better in the new category than in the original category
- The new category had fewer nominations than the original category
I hope nobody objects to this reorganization.
Thanks so much, chanson, for putting this together!
Thanks Leah!
My one regret is that I could not figure out a way to split up or thin out the “Most Insightful Discussion of Mormon Beliefs, Practices, and Culture” category. At first I thought I’d split it into a category for “Mormon Beliefs” and a category for “Mormon Culture.” But the problem is that the posts don’t really divide along those lines — it’s more that they all discuss how Mormon beliefs interact with culture and practice.
So, anyway, whoever wins that category wins the super-Brodie or something. 😉
Chanson, you’re awesome for doing this!
Thanks Donna!!
Not to be a martyr or anything, but I’ll tell you that I got up at 4am to prepare the polls before work. This is mostly because I procrastinated on Wednesday, but then I was too psyched about the Brodies to sleep. (Plus, I’m a bit of a morning person.)
I hope that everyone is as excited about the Brodies as I am!!! Though — I guess I have to admit — that’s pretty much impossible. 😉
When do the polls close?
I set them all to close on February 16 at 22:22 Switzerland time (I think).
I’m so bookmarking this. So many good read to catch up on! Thanks a bunch for taking the time to compile and organize this, Chanson. 😀 C’est genial!
Awesome round-up, as always! Very flattered to have a post included. I love Brodies season. :B
Yes! Thank you CHanson. There’s a lot of work that went into putting this all together and it is much appreciated. There are some great reads here I’m just starting to catch up on.
I’m not seeing a “Vote” button on the bottom bunch of categories.
Thanks for the heads up, and putting this together. It is all very exciting…
Thank you Chanson! Thanks for all of your work on this.
Thanks, everyone, for participating!! I was so thrilled when I got up this morning and saw how many people had voted since last night!!
Kullervo @11 — That’s worrisome. What browser are you using? I’ve checked the polls on Safari and Firefox, and they look fine. If the embedding is cutting off the bottoms of the polls, it’s also possible to go to the polldaddy site to vote for them. Tell me which ones are displaying wrong, and I’ll post the direct links.
Thank you chanson! 🙂 Great job.
Chanson — WHO LOVES YA BABY!!! (me) 🙂
Right back atcha!!! 😉
@chanson: an old version of Internet Explorer, of course. Its on my work computer. The problem starts with the “Best Religion-and-Gender Discussion” category.
Go Seth! So proud of you!!! xoxo
Kullervo — Thanks for the information. I think the best solution is not to use IE. 😉
However, for anyone who has problems with the polls not displaying correctly in this post, here are the direct links to the polls at polldaddy:

Many thanks to those sweet spirits that nominated me!
Not that I have a chance but its so awesome to be involved with so many amazing Internet people. I love being able to rediscover some of the best stuff from this past year. Thank you for putting this together.
Thanks for the nomination, chanson. I never win anything, so this is nice, indeed. I very much appreciate your efforts to highlight the good things in Mormon-related art and writing. Well done!
Imagine my delight, Chanson, to find myself in TWO categories here, and leading in both! I repent for every having dissed Fawn Brodie back in Seminary. I guess those nice things I wrote about her uncle on my website translated into good karma.
@27 — Also, writing very good posts doesn’t hurt. 😉
Note: I said the polls would close at 22:22 Switzerland time, but now that I think about it, it’s probably 22:22 in some US time zone. So I’ll be announcing the results during the night (for most of you).
How can we find the sources for all these nominees so we can read them?
Go Seth!!!! Muah! 😉
@29 — all of the poll entries are links to the posts or sites. If they don’t work for you, they should be accessible on the nominations post.
Thank you everyone (Surtout Mme Chanson pour tout ce que tu fais). Does anyone know how to display the “2011 Brodie Award Winner” button in the blogger sidebar?
President — Go to your blogger dashboard. Select “Layout” — you’ll see the outline of your layout. Select “Add a Gadget” in your sidebar. From the list of possible gadgets, select “picture”. That way you can select the image, and you can link it to your post where you explain how you won the wrong award. 😉
Perfect. Thanks. I linked it back here so they can see how unrighteous you all are in comparison to me.
Put the links back up!
Brian — Good point. I edited the post to include links to all the nominees.
I’m grateful for your visit and I hope to visit my website to share information
