This close to paradise (conclusion of Polygamist)

chanson, June 16, 2008

“Thank you so much.”

“No problem,” he said. “Now just lay low, and I’ll see you tonight.” Then he went back to the house.

As soon as he was gone, I knew immediately where I wanted to go. Riding on the local bus the other day, I had noticed a large brick building marked “Orem Public Library.” Read the rest of the story »

My first reaction on hearing about the Texas raid was “Finally, the authorities have stopped ignoring the abuses committed by the polygamists!” Yet the more I hear about this story, the more reservations I have about it. The state took several hundred children away from their parents and put them…

Husband and Wife Swapping = Order of Heaven? (D&C 132)

March 13, 2008October 20, 2010

All credit to Runtu from FLAK goes for the inspiration behind this post. While I’ve read D&C 132 dozens and dozens of times in my life, I’ve never read it with the “eyes of my understanding” being opened, thank you Runtu. Joseph and Brigham and the early prophets used to…

Another blogger has been threatened with excommunication! Kirk Van Allen criticized D&C 132 and was told by local leaders to delete or modify the post, or else! (Don’t miss FAIR’s 31-page rebuttal!) In addition to that story, Nearing Kolob has been doing some really interesting investigation into the changes in…

Hey, that is great writing (I’ve finally bookmarked it). I’ve read a bit of Jane Goodall and seen her documentaries, and been fascinated with her lifelong dedication in this field. She’s an extraordinary human being. But don’t forget, the “natural man” in us is “only” some 99.4% (the genetic origins we share with chimps). Maybe if they could “gain” that 0.6%, they’d invent religion and start killing one another for a “higher purpose”. In the next life, I want to be a chimpanzee, and specifically the Bonobo species. 🙂

    Thanks Belaja!!!

    LOL, worry not!!!

Actually, this segment (even though it’s part 5) was the very last segment that I wrote. I wrote it to establish the back-story for Joe, who’s a main character in Temple Wedding and Orem High, and also to introduce Spencer, who’s the star of Bordeaux Mission. 😀
