Nominations are still open for X-Mormon of the Year 2025 — add your nomination here!!
Welcome to the opening of the 16th annual Brodie Awards season!!!
I hope many of you are already familiar with how this works — but I also hope there are also some new people participating for the first time this year!! Especially for the new people, let me explain a bit about how this works:
The Brodies are a set of awards like the Oscars (or Grammys, Emmys, Tonys, etc.) specifically geared towards LDS-interest (and particularly X-LDS-interest) content creators.
The categories themselves are crowd-sourced and change from year to year — based on what types of content were well represented over the past year. There are two main sections: year-long awards for content creators (and their sites/channels) and awards for individual works.
Anyone can nominate (in the comments below and/or in the corresponding Reddit threads). Please feel free to nominate yourself and your own works (up to 3 times).
Please, please include links in your nominations. Sometimes comments with links get stuck in moderation — if this happens to you, please email me at chanson dot exmormon at gmail dot com, and I’ll approve your comment.
I will start with a set of suggested categories — but please feel free to suggest your own categories! Each category needs to have three nominees in order to be included in the voting phase — so please be ready with three nominees if you have a category suggestion that you’d like to see included.

For best LDS interest book narrative nonfiction: Growing Up with Satan by Dane Campbell

Alyssa Grenfell. Best LDS interest podcast. Mothers in heaven. You nailed it. Insightful. Honest and heartfelt.
Thanks for the great nominations so far!!!
I’m going to add some nominations here myself. I’ll consolidate later.
For Best Exit Story:
Mr. Diety posted a new exit-from-Mormonism story embedded in a video about Messianic Prophecies. (At the same time, I’ll nominate his mrdiety for best video channel.
Also for Best Exit Story:
Latter Day Struggles podcast episode: not willing to be burned at the Stake Center
For Best Investigative Reporting:
Uncovering another church real estate company in New York with $92,510,000 in Staten Island property for development by Redditor Suspicious_Might_663.
For best history (or narrative nonfiction) book: The Juvenile Instructor Office: The Growth of Specialized Publishing in Utah in the 1880s by Craig S. Smith.
For best history piece: It’s A Thanksgiving Miracle: Johnny Appleseed Edition by Farm to Taber. This one counts as “LDS-interest” because Sarah Taber includes a quick aside about how growing up Mormon helped her understand one element of Johnny Appleseed’s story.
I’ve found two for a new category of personal survival stories (if we get one more, we can make this a real category!). These are not for the faint of heart:
My church let my family down by lifetaketwo7662.
HOLY HORRORS #1 | Eating disorder from LDS mission, starving to fund the Church’s real estate empire, by Abstract Atheists and Mental Amanda
Abstract Atheists for best new channel 2025.
