Just got back from euro-exmo Paris weekend!

chanson, June 20, 2010

Remember how the BYU art museum banned Rodin’s “The Kiss” and other nudes? Well, naturally, the exmo ladies of Europe had no choice but to go to Paris to see them!

(Plus, of course, Paris is a lot closer… ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Unfortunately — since I didn’t take any photos myself, and the others haven’t gotten home yet — I don’t have a photo of the whole group. But it was a little like some of our other gatherings: the Paris Exmo Expo 2007 and some more recent fun times in Switzerland!

So, I hope everyone will forgive me if I make next week’s Sunday in Outer Blogness a double episode — I don’t think I can do this week’s posts justice tonight…

The reason ‘Eastern Mormons’ leave Utah: we love the attention.

I stumbled upon this smaller blog that was talking about “Cultural” Mormons. …I’ve noticed the strangest phenomenon. Many people view cultural Mormonism as the extra-doctrinal, hyper-faithful parts of the church that make it seem so unbearable, rather than the mere culture of growing up in such a peculiar church. So…

John Dehlin Asks for Help

John Dehlin just posted this message: Mormon Stories Listeners, A small situation has arisen and Iรขโ‚ฌโ„ขd love to gather a few letters from folks who feel like Mormon Stories has helped them find a way to remain active in the church when they otherwise might not have. If you are…

Laziness and Desire to Sin

August 23, 2010

One of the big stereotypes about people who leave the church is that anyone who would do such a terrible thing must have done so because they were too lazy to follow God’s commandments or because they just wanted to sin. We’ve probably been accused (either explicitly or implicitly) of…

I’m really bummed to have missed it. I would have preferred to have been there. Next time I guess.

Cute picture of you, Chanson! ๐Ÿ™‚

We would have loved it if you could have been there! But, as I said, this is far from the last opportunity. Next stop, Zurich…? ๐Ÿ˜‰

p.s. for those who have trouble interpreting my lovely cartooning skills:

In the top photo, I’m obviously the one standing behind the sculpture. In the lower left picture, I’m the one in light blue in the back, and in the B&W picture, I’m the one that looks like Michael Jackson.

In real life, though, I do not look like Michael Jackson!!! If you don’t believe me, see the pics of me on my blog, here and here.

Way to go Chanson! As you know I have a similar picture in my own album — taken less than a month ago. Wish I’d been in your group picture as well. Paris is way more fun for ex-Mormons than it is for Mormons!

Donna — yes, Paris is fabulous for exmos!

Are you planning to visit Europe any time soon? Maybe we could arrange an exmo gathering.

Thanks for the offer! Probably not this year, but we will come back in the not too distant future. Our daughter lives in Germany. Will let you know if we do, nothing is more fun than exmo gatherings, especially in Europe! We have some good ones here in San Francisco too. Last Tuesday a bunch of us crashed Mormon Night at the SF Giants game. (I wrote about it on my blog.) Let me know if you’re ever in NorCal. We love to throw parties for visiting exmos. I look forward to reading your upcoming post about the exmo Paris weekend.
