Sunday in Outer Blogness: no rest until we’re done edition!

chanson, November 23, 2008November 9, 2011

So the visceral anger over Proposition 8 has mostly passed, and Outer Blogness has moved on to processing, analysis, and planning the next steps.

On resigning from the CoJCoLDS: Kullervo’s doing it, and I’m still working on my letter. I’d have mine done already, but I’m not sure I can put it as eloquently as this letter by the “inner Frenchman” of Jesus’ General J. C. Christian (an 11 on the manly scale of absolute gender 😉 ).

On marches and protests, we have a new batch of photos and stories, as well as analysis and a little criticism of the tactics of both sides: here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, plus some predictions for the future here and here.

In other news, first the serious and bad: Randy analyzes the U.S. use of waterboarding and torture. Holly reports that there’s a popular trend to set up traps to kill an already threatened group of animals, and one that is absolutely vital to our own survival: bees. I hope these traps are just mis-labeled and that they’re actually catching hornets or wasps — less of a problem since they aren’t pollinators. But if they’re really catching even some bees, and if people you know have put up these traps, please try to persuade them to take them down.

On the lighter side Aerin watches Orgasmo (I’ve got to go see that one myself sometime). Plus, I’ve found an amusing new blog called Irresistible (Dis)grace, providing amusing new insights about Mormonism practically every day, like this one on Character building with…boring church meetings!

So, what’s up with Heavenly Mother? What do Mormons even believe about Her? Here’s an interesting theory (and rebuttal): Recently, it was suggested in another blog post featured in Young Mormon Feminists that Heavenly Mother was Lucifer and that Heavenly Father viewed her as narcissistic and attention seeking. As a…

Seems pretty quiet on the Mormon front this week. Ordain Women? Still pressing on. Worthiness interviews (where middle-aged men ask teens about sex behind closed doors) are still a problem. Kirby is preparing for his inevitable excommunication. Legalizing medical marijuana has some unintended consequences. And J. Max wrote an article…

Whatever happened to that old-time LDS religion that was always on about how the end of the world is nigh? Probably some members like the newer, calmer CoJCoL-dS, but others are clearly unsatisfied with the weak porridge (and deletions) that the correlated corporate church serves up — they want the…

That resignation letter is really poignant. Mine was just straight to the point – I sent it last Friday. I can’t wait to get the letter saying I’m no longer a member!

Rebecca — That’s cool. Did you send it to Signing for Something? If so, do you have the link to your letter?
