Sunday in Outer Blogness: Binders of Minecraft Edition!

chanson, October 21, 2012October 21, 2012

This week’s first topic is the new Exmo Minecraft server!! Of course, nobody blogged about it except me, but that doesn’t change the fact that it is awesome! People have built lots of cool stuff (especially ryandavj), so if you like Minecraft, please join us.

Of course the real topic this week was the US presidential (and vice presidential) debates, and especially the meme Romney started about “binders full of women.” Other related topics include Romney’s polygamous heritage, his job experience, his ideas, his math, and his surprising similarity with Jean-Claude Van Damme. (And a tangential joke.) Not to mention the fact that — thanks to Romney — Mormonism is no longer a cult!

The missionary age change discussion is still going. Another popular topic was the circling the wagons conference. Also some insights on apologetics.

There were a couple of poems this past week, and some poignant personal stories such as being lied to as a child, a bishop who knows just the right thing to say, and the pain of trying to be perfect. On the other hand, there were some tales of learning to take time for yourself.

Some folks had some interesting conversations with conservatives. And in other discussions, is it possible to set someone’s Facebook account to “dead”? It turns out that even if you leave the church, you still might not like coffee.

This new novel looks interesting — memo to self to try to review it (once I’ve finished my current pile). Also Roger Hansen reviewed “Brigham Young: Pioneer Prophet” and Thamazing is hosting a Mormon stories series.

Sorry I didn’t take time to pull quotes from different pieces this week, but I hope you will take the time to click on the links and read anyway — there’s some great stuff!! It has been a crazy-busy week for me (and not just because of the Minecraft, though that was a big part of it), and I still have some more stuff I need to get done before the end of the weekend… But it’s been a fun kind of busy. I hope you’re having a good week as well!! 😀

December 8, 2013

Those Christmas family gatherings can bring priceless joy, but can sometimes also involve treading in dangerous waters. Some have boundary problems deciding what to say (for example the first comment here is fascinating, but perhaps wouldn’t be helpful in some family Christmas Eves…), and some have still-open wounds. And even…
