Poll: Does it bother you when Mormon politicians endorse known neo-Nazis?
Before you take the poll, be sure to watch this video:
From YouTuber Humanleague002:
This video shows State Senator Russell Pearce endorsing JT Ready (Arizona’s most famous White Supremacist) in 2006 for Mesa City Council. The footage has never been seen by the public until now. The footage and the Mormon Document and picture was given to Steve Lemons (Phoenix New Times) by a confidential source. He gave me a copy. You can get more info here.
The video also shows Pearce denying knowing Ready in 2007 as well as an exclusive interview with JT Ready telling his side of the story. It’s interesting. According to Ready, they use to hang on his porch and tell Mexican jokes. I asked Ready if Pearce ever told him to “cool it” as JT Ready openly supports NSM (National Socialist Movement) and other white supremacist ideals. Ready stated that he never did but his wife, Lu Ann had as she was concerned of Russell’s career.
Probably the most interesting thing is Ready explaining his relationship and role with Pearce’s long-time political crusade against Mexicans. It’s also important to note that while JT Ready seems to be telling the truth-I have no way of verifying everything he says. I will give him credit as so far he seems to show more integrity and honesty then Senator Pearce. Ready is not happy with Pearce’s recent activities with Lobbyists, his public disapproval of the NSM march on Nov 13, 2010 and his repeated denial of their long time friendship and political alliance on the immigration issue. Mr. Pearce should probably get honest real soon as the skeletons in his closet are messy and plenty and its time to take them out. I have more info and will be releasing it. If I were him, I’d come clean first. The people of Arizona deserve the truth.
Here is a factual time-line of Pearce’s relationship with Ready:
2006: Russell Pearce is warned by the Bill Strauss of the ADL of JT Ready’s connections to white supremacists.
March 2007: JT Ready’s neo-Nazi activities are publicly exposed at an open legislative hearing, reported on by the local media.
June 2007: Pearce and Ready work the crowd together at an anti-immigrant rally at the Arizona State Capitol.
From the Tucson Citizen:
The new Senate President of Arizona, Russell Pearce, has deep neo-Nazi ties, including ordaining one of them, JT Ready into the Mormon church, of which Russell Pearce is a High Priest.
Yet Russell Pearce wants to distance himself from his disciple?
He was having a great time with JT for many years, and Sean Pearce, Russells son, even worked with JT Ready on the Minutemen crew.
Now that he is the Senate President and passing legislation from known hate groups such as FAIR, Russell Pearce is trying to put on the not-so-racist look now.
So, if it bothers you that Russell Pearce endorses known neo-Nazis, please take the poll.
New poll coming soon: Does any of this bother the LDS leadership enough to finally take real action?
Excerpt from JT Ready’s comments in the clip: “I can be the voice box, I can also be a bellwether to tell how much resistance are we going to get from the ADL, how much resistance are we going to get from the mainstream media, how much resistance can we get from the people, how much will they take … take that, how can we push the bar a little bit further, keep him [Russell Pearce] in the safe zone, and inch up forward, and I take all the brunt of the hits and so forth, you know, kind of like, you know, I’m doing the blocking and like that. It’s kind of a pincer strategy that you use.”
Tellingly, J.T. and associates are apparently not concerned about resistance from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You know, these guys:
Russell Pearce: “The interesting thing about SB1070 is Obama may not be visiting Arizona because we’re actually going to require papers now.”
Thomas S. Monson, Dallin H. Oaks, Quentin L. Cook, M. Russell Ballard … all apparently bamboozled by our paperless President according to Russell Pearce.
Backgrounder: The Mormon Church v. Anti-immigrant Mormons
Update: It may be the first but it’s undoubtedly not the last reaction we’ll be reading from Russell Pearce to this video.
Unbelievable. Thanks for posting this Chino.
I remember reading pre-2008 that Neo-nazis endorsed Obama because they figured that if we have black president then more white people would turn to “white culture.” Well, we have seen a jump in anti-Mexican and Islamophobic behavior on the right and left — although exactly how much having a black president brings this out in people is impossible to measure.
It bothers me even more that the Republican party allows this man to be Senate president. That’s the real scandal here.
What a piece of work he is. Blimey!
(I live in Canada/UK and have never heard of him before… kinda wish I hadn’t.)
Thanks for taking a look at that clip. I don’t know how many Arizona readers we have, but since I was born in Mesa and spent my first nine years in Gilbert, I kinda wish we got more news from the Alabama of the Southwest here at MSP. Nearly all the extended Mormon family are still there, and some of the email forwards I got from them during the last presidential campaign were enough to guarantee flashes of schadenfreude on my side during election night as I recalled their viciously racist warnings.
I think it’s a good thing that he shows his stripes. I know most everyone just thinks “well I don’t agree with his Neo-Nazi-ism, but I agree with all his politics”, but I can hope that maybe it makes someone think about what that particular bundle of political beliefs really is.
This is totally O/T, but it’s cracking me up. Mormon Times just published my New Year’s contribution to their zany festivities: Elizabeth Barrett Browning said it best
Thing is, it’s her entire poem (not just the two lines quoted at the link) that really gets to me:
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday’s
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with a passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood’s faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, — I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! — and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.
h/t to BCC’s LDS Headlines for the heads up, you crazy lost saints who never come around and post as promised. 😉
Well, not really. But, the neo-nazis are pretenders. The Nazis do not exist anymore. The Neo-Nazis are not the family of the Nazis. Because they are gone. The Neo-Nazis are guys who sympathizes the Nazis, because they admire their perfection. The Nazis, were perfect in being pale or olive color skin, brown eyes, and tall and muscular and svelte, who are natural and made by God, and the Aryans were the people whom Hitler invented, because Hitler ordered to bring the children and inject in the head to make their eyes blue and they were cleansed by the advanced techologies. The people of blue eyes has never existed since Hitler invented a new race which is blue eye whom Hitler created the new race. The people of blue eyes, are created by men and not of God. What is made of God is natural and what is made of men offends God’s nature and exalts against God’s power and his godhood. The Aryans were white, blue eyes and blond and tall and muscular and slender whom Hitler invented the new race whom he has brought against the Jews. Because the Jews were also green eyes, white and tall and blondes. I do not support them. Sorry. Lol.
It is written God will destroy the seed of the wicked who invented? Who are the seed of the wicked? Hitler. The people whom Hitler invented are people who are blue eyes and blond will be destroyed by God. It is written, wicked men will perish like animals. Animals cease to live forever and ever.
