Great article. It makes me wonder if they are feeling the pressure now that more and more political officials are openly declaring their support for marriage equality. Six senators in one weekend is no small thing.
I think what has perhaps hurt the article’s popularity is that I’m a naysayer for Mormons Building Brides due to their “correlated discourse” policy that disallows discussion on the sin question. Sure, MBB works on the issues of bullying, youth homelessness and employment/housing discrimination, but so has Equality Utah for years and years. I refuse to give MBB a pat on the back until they make the “leap” that same-sex intimacy is not a sin (or at least, allow their individual members to express this at a Pride parade!!!)…
It’s like the feminism question. Piecemeal steps (such as letting a woman pray at General Conference) can seem like progress from the inside, but from the outside it looks like the patriarchal force field is as strong as ever.
