Time to nominate X-Mormon of the Year 2015!!

chanson, December 23, 2015

It’s end-of-the-year awards time again!! As usual, we begin with the “William Law X-Mormon of the Year”!

This year’s contest should be pretty exciting, with all the excommunications: John Dehlin, Marisa and Carson Calderwood, Rock Waterman, and Kirk Van Allen (not sure if he was finally X’d or not) — not to mention all of the people who got gay-married!

Now, it’s not necessary to have been excommunicated in 2015 to win X-Mormon of the Year 2015 — but it doesn’t hurt. Keep in mind, though, that this is not a lifetime achievement award — it’s for the X-Mormon who made the biggest splash in 2015. Also note that it’s not a joke award or booby-prize, so please be considerate and only nominate people who would not be hurt or offended by being named X-Mormon of the Year.

After all, there are so many of us to choose from — our ranks are swelling every day!!

I will keep the nominations open until Friday, January 8, 2016, and then we will begin voting. Anyone can nominate — just leave a comment. And next week, the nominations for the Brodie Awards will begin!!

Once more fringe mormonism rears it’s paradixical, confusing, prideful “intellectualizing” head lol yearning to be recognized by SOMEBODY. I think the LDS Church in general produces competitive, cream of the top type individuals, yet when they go south and anti etc they get to a new level of their own mental gyrations and definately toward the realm of cray cray for sure!!Those of us who have had genuine spiritual experiences are dismissed. These humanist/ atheists love to ignore the scholastic achievements and high intellect of the spiritual, active Mormon. You see, we don’t fit their paradigm. Truth is: can you measure scientifically, the thought process? How about love and feelings of love between human beings or people and their pets? I guess because we can’t measure these things they don’t exist! Ps this rant is for transhumanist mormonism lol and all other ridiculous fringe and money making sites ( I will be sure to direct appropriate government agencies to sites claiming philanthropic Ventures …

Anti’s and exmo’s fall into the ever growing rank of mediocrity. LDS keep the challenge of self improvement, self dicipline and success. I agree, it’s easy to follow the crowd.

Sorry, what…? This contest has nothing against (or to do with, really) the feelings of love between people and their pets.

Active Mormons with amazing scholastic achievements are awesome!! I used to be one. And they are more than welcome to join in the fun of recognizing their favorite X-Mormons of 2015!! πŸ˜€

John Dehlin is the exmo that made the biggest splash. I nominate him and chubs_gato

@4, @5, @6 — That is a really good choice!! I had forgotten about him, but he probably helped more people resign from the CoJCoL-dS than any other individual short of Joseph Smith himself!

Does anyone know his real name? I assume he’s not anonymous, since I recall his name was in the newspaper articles about the event (which I can look up again, if you guys don’t happen to know his name).

Kittywaymo: “Truth is: can you measure scientifically, the thought process? How about love and feelings of love between human beings or people and their pets?”

Yes, you can. If you disagree then you don’t know what science means. Also, your grammar and spelling are sub-mediocre so I don’t think you’ve earned the right to come here and judge. Pretty sure your fairy tales teach that you’re not supposed to do that anyway.

@8 Mark Naugle is chubs’s real name.

I also want to throw in some nominations for the fellow doing thoughtsonthingsandstuff.com and also the folks doing zelphontheshelf.com. Super impressed by the work these guys are doing.

    @12 Thanks!!!

Next week I’ll start collecting nominations for the Brodie Awards, and both “thoughtsonthingsandstuff” and “zelphontheshelf” will definitely be nominated, probably in multiple categories. I think “zelphontheshelf” is currently the most likely to win the coveted “Best New Blog” award.

p.s. Here’s the link to the nomination thread on the Exmo Reddit — to keep an eye on, just in case someone else gets nominated there.

So far it looks like all the nominations are John Dehlin and Mark Naugle.

There’s also one nomination for “The entire RLDS/CoC hierarchy,” but I’m not sure that one really passes the nomination criteria. The award is supposed to be for an individual, and — though we did have one case where a couple won as a couple — I’m not sure it makes sense to include an entire category of people without a really compelling reason.

It’s too bad that famous dead mormons isn’t being updated any longer.

I saw somewhere (fb maybe?) that Darth Vader had been baptized for the dead. I was going to nominate him (but I’m pretty sure he doesn’t meet the qualifications).
