2025 Awards Season Schedule

chanson, December 23, 2025

This year, for the first time ever, the winners of the Brodie Awards and Ex-Mormon of the Year will be announced live on a popular podcast!!! The Mormon Discussions Podcast has generously offered to host the awards ceremonies (as I announced on their podcast last week):

So this year we’ll have a few changes from the usual schedule:

I will run the polls for both the Brodie Awards and X-Mormon of the Year simultaneously, and I’ll set the polls not to show you the results (so that the winners will be a surprise when announced live). My plan is to put up both sets of polls right around New Year’s (the 31st or the 1st), and the voting will run for two weeks. Then the winners will be announced on one of the Mormon Discussion Inc., podcasts on January 14th 2026. (I will post the winners here the next day.)

What this means is that if you are nominated, your work/channel/etc. will be highlighted on the podcast. (This may be limited to the year-long awards and/or the top 3 finalists per category — we’re still working out the details.)

This also means that all of the nominations are still ongoing and will remain open until the last day of 2025. In particular, this has been a surprisingly slow year for high-profile excommunications and other Mormon-interest news stories breaking into the normie news cycle, so we’re still looking for more 2025-newsworthy X-Mos for our X-Mormon of the Year award. And, naturally, please nominate all of your favorite content creators (including yourself, if relevant) for the Brodie Awards!!

The nomination guidelines are included in the links above, and if you’d like to learn more about the history of these awards, please see my Sunstone presentation from last year.

Thanks to everyone who participates!!!
